I'm the original comPOST Pack - a certified home compostable, fully biodegradable mailing satchel partly made from plants. I have a lovely, matt finish with printed graphics as per the image gallery. I'm flat (i.e. no gusset, but some stretch) with a flap and self-seal strip. Check the Sizing Guide in the image gallery as the bag thickness and number of seals vary by size. I behave just like a plastic satchel except when left in nature! In a home compost I will biodegrade in 3-6 months and can also be commercially composted. Find out how . I’m made from corn starch with a man-made binding agent added for flexibility. I am slightly milky in colour but am definitely see-through and bar codes can be read through me. But the best bit … I can be composted at home! Yip, when you’ve finished using me, just put me in with your food scraps and garden waste, and before you know it, worms will be eating me for breakfast. Better. Right. SHELF LIFE: Technically our comPOLY garment bags have a shelf life of 10 months, however this is only applicable when the bags are exposed to the elements, light, heat and moisture. If they are kept in boxes, in a warehouse for example, they will not start to degrade for at least a year. It is only when they are exposed to the elements that they will start to break down. When they do, they don't leach anything onto their contents, they just lose their strength and become brittle. I’m a real cushy dirt bag! Available in two handy sizes. My outer layer is made from white, FSC recycled paper and my padded interior is compostable ‘bubbles’. This means I’m still waterproof but you can also write on me or stamp my front with your brand. Exciting huh. NOTE: These bags have a wide seam so the internal width is up to 1" narrower than the overall bag size. SHELF-LIFE 18 months CERTIFICATIONS Commercially Compostable AS 4736 | FSC Forest Stewardship Council Paper These bags carry the AS 4736 certification for Industrial Compostability. This is because the bubbles are made up of 3 layers of film and, while the individual layers are thin enough to break down in a home compost, when combined, they do not have that certification.
