Its grand size gives it the name 'Giant White Bird Of Paradise', as it can grow to great heights (up to 16 feet!) , but the grace and understated grandeur of its sinuous shape is what makes it such a compelling house plant (it can have a summer holiday outdoors but won't survive our worst winters). The leaves alone are large and exotic looking, but when in flower, sadly seldom seen outside of the wild, it opens wide like a great white Crane. Also known commonly as the Wild Banana, as it is a species of banana-like plants, of which there is the orange flowering variety Reginae which we also stock for its silvery more upright leaves. Either give stature, shape and form to any room. Please note that Strelitzia leaves naturally split, it is how the plant evolved to deal with winds. Best space & place Happiest situated in indirect bright light. It is happy in most rooms, with a minimum temperature of 10°C. It can be acclimatised to live in direct sun, but leaves will scorch while it adjusts. When to water & feed In the summer months Strelitzia require their soil to remain moist to keep the leaves looking good. Just make sure the soil drains well and they don't sit in water. Feeding is beneficial. Need to know Strelitzia need humidity to thrive, it is important to increase humidity by misting, and introducing fresh airflow, especially when temperatures hit 20 degrees, ventilating the home. Decorative pots not included. The plant will be delivered in a plastic nursery pot.

These flexible liners can be inserted and fitted inside indoor plant pots to provide extra protection. The liners can also be used to adapt outdoor planters with a drainage hole for indoor use by keeping the plant rootball in the liner and watering only within the liner. Liners come in standard sizes so for unique and interesting pots it is best to choose the closest size to the internal dimensions of your pot or planter. The liners can be trimmed with scissors to height. Please note the liner is 100% watertight but only if the plant is watered within the confines of the liner, any small gap in the fit can allow water to travel down the sides, so care must still be taken when watering. The Fiddle-leaf Fig is not only an instagram star, but a horticultural one. This indoor tree makes an architectural statement in any room. The thick clear stem - with majestic deep brown detailed bark - branches out beautifully to hold large luscious green leaves that can grow larger than your head. Our favourite feature plant in a simple but crafted pot. For natural country chic try our rattan baskets , if you're more organic modernism, then terracotta is a making great strides indoors, or for simple modern shapes, you won't go wrong with our contemporary range . The single stem fiddle-leaf is also our go to plant for plantscaping, giving a strong and tall focal point to then arrange plants descending in size. Pair with palms for tropical flair, or other ficus for lush backdrops. Best space & place This ficus, like most others is happiest situated in indirect bright light. It is happy in most rooms, with a minimum temperature of 12°C. It does not like draughts and this can cause the leaves to discolour. When to water & feed Allow the top two inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Apply a general purpose houseplant feed like in the summer months. Reduce watering in winter. Need to know The leaves benefit from a damp wipe from time to time to remove dust, facilitate more light transmission, and keep looking glossy. They can lose leaves when settling in but they are soon replaced. Read our 'Ficus Lyrata' Care Guide. Pollutant Absorption Credentials The Fiddle Leaf Fig has been shown to help remove benzene, formaldehyde and ammonia. Ammonia is often used in cleaning products because it's good at breaking down grease, and because it because it evaporates quickly, leaving surfaces streak-free. Unfortunately, that also means it ends up in the air. Decorative pot not included. The plant will be delivered in a plastic nursery pot.

These planters are strong & lightweight, perfect for indoor surfaces. The rough washed concrete effect makes these pots super contemporary. They do not have drainage holes, but the extra large and above sizes are weatherproof, so can be used outside. The pot finish is washed so colours can vary, for example from dark grey to black on the black washed version. Please note the planter is not guaranteed to be 100% watertight so we always recommend using a liner or saucer for added protection. Hailing from Lord Howe Island near Australia, these palms are still propagated from seeds on the island itself, and the seedlings are exported around the world, supporting the only nursery on the island and the small local economy. The palms are very slow growing, tolerant of most light conditions and needs watering just every so often. Best space & place Medium to bright but indirect light. Full sun will scorch the leaves. Keep indoors all year. When to water & feed Feed once a week in spring / summer, never in winter. A good mist between waterings is a good way to keep the Howea happy. Water sparingly in winter.
