What Size Bracket Should I Use? NOTE: Ideally you want no more than 3" of unsupported countertop extending past the end of your bracket. Example: If your countertop overhang is 19” Deep (19” – 3” = 16”) You’d want to go with an 16” x 12” Bracket Our brackets are listed as follows, depth x height measurements Example: 10” x 8” Bracket 10” would be supporting your material (horizontally or depth) 8” would be mounted to the wall (vertically or height) How Many Brackets Do I Order? These countertop support brackets are typically spaced 16 - 24 inches apart, or 1 bracket on each framing stud. To figure out how many brackets you need lets start with 2 brackets at each end of the countertop set 4" - 6" inches in from the edge. Now measure the distance between the 2 end brackets and use the following formula: (Distance Between) divided by/ (desired bracket spacing). Example 76 / 16 = 4.75, so you need 4 more brackets to support the space left between the two end brackets. Here is an example using a real countertop installation: An 84" wide countertop with 2 brackets set 4 inches from the end would leave you with 76" left to support; (84" - 8" = 76"). Now take 76" divided by / 16" = 4.75, So you would need 4 more brackets for the space left giving you a total of 6 brackets for this project. For a countertop overhang spanning 84" wide with 2 brackets set in 4" from either side and a 16" span between brackets, you would order 6 brackets total. 2 end brackets and 4 to support the remaining 76" span. Support anything you want to float on a wall including Granite, Quartz, Natural Stone, Concrete, Wood, Formica, and all other materials. Size & Quantity Guide What Size Bracket Should I Use? NOTE: Ideally you want no more than 3" of unsupported countertop extending past the end of your bracket. To find the bracket size you need take the depth of your countertop, bar, shelf etc... (in this example we will say its 18" deep). Then subtract 3" from that 18" depth (3" is the amount of countertop that will extend past the bracket). This is what the math for that looks like: 18"- 3" = 15". Results: You would want to order a 15.5" bracket for this 18" deep countertop. Pro Tip: "As a contractor we like to run these brackets as close to the edge of the bench or countertop we are supporting. Doing this adds that extra bit of security knowing this thing isn't going anywhere." How Many Brackets Should I Order? When using this floating bracket for shelves or mantels with a load less than 100lbs you can space these brackets on every other wall stud. When using this floating bracket for Bars, Countertops, Benches, Cabinets, or Vanities you will want to use (1) bracket on every wall stud which would be (1) bracket every 16" or 24" depending on the framing method used. Installation Guide Installation Instructions View Bracket Spec Sheet (PDF) View Bracket Installation Guide (PDF) How to install the bracket? Measure and mark the appropriate mounting locations on your wall. Remove Sheet Rock in the area where the bracket will be mounted. Pro Tip: Use a chalk line or laser level to mark a straight line. Then attach a 2x4 along the line giving you a template and “shelf” to use while mounting the brackets, keeping them perfectly level with each other. Securely mount the bracket to the side of the stud. Once the bracket is fastened patch the wall. Prior to setting the top in place, run a bead of high-quality silicone adhesive down the center of each bracket. Pro Tip: For a wood countertop application you have the option to secure that to the bracket with screws and skip the glue. For this you would have to drill holes in the bracket and secure your wood shelf, desk, counter etc… with screws using the holes you drilled.

Our Hidden Island Countertop Bracket is designed to provide evenly distributed support throughout the entire granite countertop. Raw steel is also available for your own color matching or for no paint needed applications. Additional Information - Made in the USA Carrying Capacity: 325 Lbs. per bracket The horizontal end has a smooth beveled end for safety The narrow profile makes this support nearly invisible for a clean look No knee knocking feature Installation requires to simply route out the back of your cabinet (2.5” wide x .5” deep) Uses - Support Kitchen Island Countertops Support anything you want on a cabinet including Granite, Quartz, Natural Stone, Concrete, Wood, Formica, and all other materials Size & Quantity Guide What Size Bracket Should I Use? NOTE: Ideally you want no more than 3" of unsupported countertop extending past the end of your bracket. These brackets mount to the inside of your cabinet face and extend out past the cabinet base on the countertop overhang side. Let say you have a 15 inch overhang with a 32" cabinet base, (15" + 32" = 47"). Now subtract 3" (this is the ideal amount of countertop hanging past the bracket), 47" - 3" = 44". This is what the math for this looks like: (15" + 32") - 3" = 44" Results: You would want to order a 44" island bracket. How Many Brackets Do I Order? These island countertop support brackets are typically spaced 18 - 24 inches apart To figure out how many brackets you need lets start with 2 brackets at each end of the countertop set 4" - 6" inches in from the edge. Now measure the distance between the 2 end brackets and use the following formula: (Distance Between) divided by/ (desired bracket spacing). Example 76 / 18 = 4.2, so you need 4 more brackets to support the space left between the two end brackets. Here is an example using a real countertop installation: An 84" wide countertop with 2 brackets set 4 inches from the end would leave you with 76" left to support; (84" - 8" = 76"). Now take 76" divided by / 18" = 4.2, So you would need 4 more brackets for the space left giving you a total of 5 brackets for this project. For a countertop overhang spanning 84" wide with 2 brackets set in 4" from either side and a 18" span between brackets, you would order 6 brackets total. 2 end brackets and 4 to support the remaining 76" span. Size & Quantity Guide --Our recommendations meet or exceed the general guidelines provided by the Natural Stone Institute (formerly MIA) for safe and effective countertop support. While natural stone and exotic materials can be unpredictable, and man-made solid surface tops may require less support, our recommendations, based on extensive experience, offer a higher level of structural integrity and peace of mind compared to the minimum guidelines for unsupported overhangs.-- 1. What Size Bracket Do I Need? (Based on Your Countertop Overhang) To ensure invisible, strong support, your bracket should extend to within 3-4 inches of your countertops outer edge. Here's how to figure it out: Measure Your Overhang: Determine the depth of your countertop overhang from the front of your knee or pony wall. (e.g., 15 inches). Measure Your Wall Framing: Find the depth of your knee or pony wall framing (typically 4" to 6" for standard lumber). Calculate Total Required Depth: (Countertop Overhang Depth) + (Wall Framing Depth) Select Your Bracket Size: Subtract 4" from your Total Required Depth. Choose the closest bracket length from our available sizes that meets or exceeds this number. (15" Overhang + 4" Wall) = 19" Total Depth. 19" - 3" (unsupported overhang) = 16". Recommended Bracket Size: 16" Hidden Flat Bracket. Example: For a 15" countertop overhang on a 4" deep pony wall: (15" Overhang + 4" Wall) = 19" Total Required Depth. 19" - 3" (unsupported overhang) = 16". Recommended Bracket Size: 16" Hidden Flat Bracket. Available Sizes: 8", 10", 12", 14", 16", 18" Recommended Bracket Size Table Overhang Depth Bracket Size (4" Framing) Bracket Size (6" Framing) 7" 8" 10" 8" 8" 10" 9" 10" 12" 10" 10" 12" 11" 12" 14" 12" 12" 14" 13" 14" 16" 14" 14" 16" 15" 16" 18" 16" 16" 18" 17" 18" See Our Larger Support Bracket » 18" 18" See Our Larger Support Bracket » 19"+ See Our Larger Support Bracket » 2. How Many Brackets Do I Need? (Based on Your Countertop Width) For optimal stability and weight distribution, these brackets are typically spaced16 to 24 inches apart. We recommend placing 2 brackets near the ends and then spacing additional brackets evenly across the remaining span. Step A: Place End Brackets: Install one bracket 4"-6" in from each end of your countertop. (This accounts for 8"-12" of total width). Step B: Measure Remaining Width: Subtract the width covered by the end brackets from your total countertop width. Step C: Calculate Additional Brackets: Divide the "Remaining Width" by your desired spacing (e.g., 16" for standard support, 24" for lighter duty or tighter spacing). Always round up! Step D: Total Brackets: Add the 2 end brackets to your calculated "Additional Brackets." (84" Total Width - 8" for end brackets) = 76" Remaining Width to support. 76" / 16" (desired spacing) = 4.75. Round up to 5. Total Brackets Needed: 2 (ends) + 5 (additional) = 7 Hidden Flat Brackets. Example: For an 84" wide countertop with end brackets set 4" in from each side: Note: For an 84" countertop, you'd typically order 7 brackets for maximum support. Recommended Bracket Quantity Table (Includes the 2 End Brackets 4" From Each End) Countertop Width QTY of Brackets @ 16" Spacing QTY of Brackets @ 24" Spacing 24" 3 3 36" 4 3 48" 5 4 60" 6 5 72" 6 5 84" 7 6 96" 8 6 108" 9 7 120" 9 7 132" 10 8 144" 11 8 156" 11 9 168" 12 9 180" 13 10 192" 14 10 🛠️ Got a custom size countertop like 91.75" or something in between? NOTE: Ideally you want no more than 3" of unsupported countertop extending past the end of your bracket. Now, lets figure out what size bracket you need. Take the depth of your countertop overhang, in this example we will use a 15" overhang. Now add the depth of your knee or pony wall framing, which will be 4" to 6" depending on framing material used. 15" overhang + 4" framing = 19" total depth. Now take 19" and subtract 3", this is the amount of countertop that will overhang past the end of these brackets. This is what that math looks like: (15" + 4") - 3" = 16" Results: You would want to order a 16" bracket. How Many Brackets Do I Order? If you are going to be mounting these to a framed Knee or Pony wall it is advised that you put one bracket on top of each stud 16 - 24" apart. So you would order the same number of brackets as you have studs in the framing under your countertop. If you are mounting these to a header like on a reinforced cabinet base we advise you still mount them either 16 or 24 inches apart. Lest calculate the number of bracket you would need if you are mounting them to a header style framing. Now take 76" divided by / 16" = 4.75, So you would need 3 more brackets for the space left giving you a total of 6 brackets for this project. For a countertop overhang spanning 84" wide with 2 brackets set in 4" from either side and a 16" span between brackets, you would order 6 brackets total. 2 end brackets and 4 to support the remaining 76" span.
